How to Freeze Fruits
Freezing fruits is a simple and smart practice that came from the need to make the most of food without waste. Ripe fruits that would otherwise be thrown away get a new life in the freezer, preserving their nutrients and flavor for much longer. Beyond being budget-friendly, the habit of freezing fruits in slices has transformed the way smoothies are made — no other caloric ingredients needed. The frozen fruit does all the work, naturally sweetening the smoothie while making it creamy, thick, and nutritious. A simple trick that saves money, reduces waste, and ensures a healthy snack is always ready to go! 🍌🥑
These fruits work as the base structure of the juice or smoothie, without needing to add milk or any other caloric supplement.

Cut the fruit into cubes or horizontally into slices, not too thin.
Spread the slices on a tray so they don’t overlap, place in the freezer, and leave for a few hours until frozen.
Once frozen, transfer to a plastic bag or a freezer-safe container.
Take a few pieces at a time whenever you make a smoothie. Mix with other fruits of your choice, or add a heaping spoonful of 50% or 70% cocoa powder, sweeten to taste, or simply add a small spoonful of vanilla extract.
You can do the same with banana — slice and freeze it, just like the avocado, which ends up being the thick, consistent part of the smoothie, making it more nutritious and filling. It’s a great snack between meals!
